From May 22–25, 2025, the scenic Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal will once again host one of South Africa’s most anticipated art fairs — Art in the Country, presented by SPAR at the elegant Harrington House in Hilton. Now in its fourth edition, the event continues to gain acclaim as KZN’s premier art exhibition, bringing together 64 of the country’s top visual artists under the canvas sprawl of luxurious Bedouin tents.
This year, Olga Nikitina — professional PADI-certified diving instructor — joins the prestigious lineup with a truly unique approach to art. Nikitina paints entirely underwater, capturing the atmosphere, color, and movement of the ocean in real time, while immersed in the very environment she portrays. Her process is both physically challenging and creatively liberating, merging fine art with the adventurous spirit of marine exploration.

Nikitina’s work has gained international recognition for its vivid palette, fluid brushwork, and immersive storytelling. Visitors to Art in the Country will have a rare chance to see her paintings up close, and experience how the underwater world transforms into poetic canvases through her hands.
Alongside Nikitina, the 2025 edition of the fair features a powerful mix of established names and rising stars, avant-garde installations, and engaging displays. The exhibition also includes gourmet offerings from celebrity chef Jackie Cameron, live music, and a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.
Whether you're an art lover, collector, or simply curious about art made in the most unusual of studios—the ocean itself—Olga Nikitina’s work is not to be missed.
